Amputações do polegar podem comprometer em até 50% da função da mão. Atualmente, o transplante de dedo do pé é o único procedimento seguro e confiável que substitui “igual por igual” os casos de ausência ou perda do polegar e dedos. Descrevemos um caso de transplante do 2° dedo do pé para um polegar desarticulado ao nível da metacarpofalangeana com bom resultado funcional e estético e sem perdas importantes para o pé doador.
