Abstract

Traumatic dislocation of patella is common in adolescence and many cases progress to femoral patellar instability. The treatment of both, the first traumatic dislocation or the patellofemoral instability, is still controversial, and good clinical history together with complementary imaging tests guide the best decision between a conservative, (immobilization and rehabilitation) or a surgical treatment. There are many operative techniques described and the reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament is a good option, not so invasive, easy to reproduce, demonstrating good results in the medical literature and could be associated with other techniques. We describe the technique of reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament with autologous graft of the quadriceps tendon.
