Abstract

Open reduction and internal fixation using a blocked volar plate has been an increasingly used technique for distal radius fractures. Both conventional and minimally invasive techniques are used to treat this group of fractures. Despite theoretical differences, more scientific evidence is still being sought to prove which method is superior comparing to clinical and functional results in the postoperative period. The authors describe a case with minimally invasive volar access for fractures of the distal radius and compare it with the conventional technique.
