Redução aberta e fixação interna usando placa volar bloqueada tem sido uma técnica cada vez mais utilizada nas fraturas da extremidade distal do rádio. Tanto a técnica convencional quanto a minimamente invasiva são realizadas para o tratamento deste grupo de fraturas. Apesar das diferenças teóricas, ainda se buscam mais evidências científicas que comprovem qual método é superior em relação aos resultados clínicos e funcionais no pós-operatório. Os autores descrevem um caso com a via de acesso volar minimamente invasiva para fraturas do rádio distal fazendo uma comparação com a técnica convencional.
